Edible wild greens and chives in Korea

Image
1. 냉이(naengi)-Capsella bursa-pastoris It grows from February to March in Korea and people eat it a lot in spring, and from April to May it is tough and not eaten well. The efficacy of this wild vegetable is helpful in improving high blood pressure and eyesight, and is often as an ingredient for soybean stew. Those who have eaten a lot of soybean paste stew in the spring in Korea will have tasted it. If you like to cook, go to the mountains between February and March to collect it and try making soybean soup.  2. 달래(dallae)-Allium monanthum The stem of this wild plant is long and grows well in a cool place, and both the leaves and the root can be eaten raw. It is mainly used as an ingredient for soup or pancakes, and is also used as a medicinal herb. It tastes good when eaten with Suyuk(boiled pork) or Samgyeopsal(grilled pork belly). Korean Bulgogi Stew served in a bowl

Image
A Ttukbaegi is a porcelain bowl. In this bowl, put pork bulgogi, vegetables, and broth and boil to make a bowl of ttukbaegi bulgogi. Cooking methods and ingredients are determined by the restaurant. So, even if the same ttukbaegi bulgogi has different ingredients and nutrients, the taste will be different. Just like if the ingredients for a hamburger are different, the taste will be different. So, it's fun to find a restaurant that makes Ttukbaegi Bulgogi delicious and become regulars. Last time I blogged about this restaurant. This is my second visit to eat this food, and I'll tell you what I couldn't finish last time. A large amount of Bulgogi in a Ttukbaegi at the 미가원 Migawon Ttukbaegi Bulgogi cooked by the chef of Migawon Steak Restaurant. There was a lot of pork bulgogi in the bowl. Other restaurants often use a 4:6 pork to vegetable ration. But I love the 8:2 meat/vegetable ratio here. The Bulgogi is lean, not chewy, not thick, and tastes great. It was the most delic

History of prostitutes in Korea

Image
Why the women who talked about "Oppa Let's play" disappeared? During the Japanese colonial period, Japan has established a system of prostitutes in Korea. However, after the liberation of Korea, the US military abolished Japan's prostitute system on May 17, 1946. The reason is that, from the viewpoint of the U.S. Military Government, prostitution in an individual's freedom, and management by the state is seen as a violation of individual freedom.  Then, on June 25, 1950, the war between North Korea and South Korea broke out, and prostitution began near Cheonglyangli station, which was the terminus of the Gyeongwon Railway heading to Cheorwon and Hwacheon. This is the beginning of 청량리 588 Cheongnyangni 588.  In 1968, the city of Seoul forcibly demolished the brothel inside Seodaemun Gate, and prostitutes from Jong-ro flowed into Cheonglyngli, and the scale of the brothel grew.  With the 1988 Seoul Olympics as an opportunity, a major overhaul was started to improve

The best gold treasure found in Korea

Image
Korea's representative golden treasures include the Silla gold crown and the gilt-bronze Mirok Bodhisattva and were considered the best. However, in June 2022, the National Palace Museum of Korea revealed to the media the treasures unearthed in Gyeongju city.  The name of the treasure is '선각단화쌍조문금박(seon-gag-dan-hwa-ssang-jo-mun-geum-pak)'. It measures 3.6cm in width and 1.17cm in length and is 0.04mm thick, and it is a relic from the Silla period in Korea.  What is surprising is the skill of the craftsman who handled gold. The thickness of the line drawn on the pattern is 0.05mm, which is similar to the thickness of hair. How did someone engrave the delicate patterns that are difficult draw even with a microscope?   Even more surprising is the purity of this gold. Only 200 years after the Industrial Revolution in Europe, 99.99% pure gold was produced through electrochemical decomposition. By the way, this treasure is a relic from 1300years ago. Pure gold with a purity of

Korea chicken brand G-cova

Image
지코바 양념 치킨 배달 delivered G-cova chicken set I ordered G-cova Boneless chicken through a Korean delivery app Baedal Minjok. Inside the paper bag was a box of chicken, a pack of diced radishes, a Coke and plastic cup of ice. The material of the paper bag is coated so that it does not get wet with water. I like G-cova packaging style. 떡볶이와 훈제 양념 치킨의 조화! The harmony of tteokbokki and smoked spicy chicken!  When ordering G-cova seasoned chicken, you can select the spiciness level from high to low (Low = Mild, Medium = Normal, High = Spicy). I like the mild taste. If you don't like the spicy taste preferred by Koreans, you should also choose the mild taste. The lean meat is part of the chicken leg and is served with tteokbokki. Diced Radish Kkakdugi and coke will cool your spicy taste.
